"The Spice of Rabbits"

Garden City Rabbit Breeders Club --
Swan Song Triple Show

It was a bitter-sweet weekend in Missoula, MT as this long-standing club held its final show. The show featured judges Ray Hall, MO (CRBA President), Brent Rice, IA and Lawrence Weeks, ID. The show also was attended by one of the club founders and Cinnamon rabbit breed developer Ellis Houseman.

Ellis and Rose Houseman attended the club's final show. Ellis is over 80 but his eye's light up when talking about his many years of showing rabbits. He is pictured here with wife Rose and (on left) long-time friend and judge Lawrence Weeks of Idaho.
Ellis loves to share his knowledge of rabbits and it was an honor to have him personally look at our Cinnamons. I think he actually checked out every Cinnamon in the room!
During Show C, Ellis gave everyone tips on judging the Junior Does. He remarked that this particular animal had a strong hind-quarter.
The class of Senior Bucks was very large -- 8 of the "bad boys" as Ray said. We missed the picture of him walking up to the table and realizing it was all bucks and we had 3 more  classes(no Intermediates) to load yet!

Everyone watched and listened closely for comments and tips on what we should be striving for in the Cinnamon breed. Shoulders, hindquarters and color were the most common concerns.
Here is an example of a Cinnamon with a good strong head, wide shoulders, nice color and a strong hind quarter.

Lap markings - These are the two brighter Cinnamon spots that be on the underside/groin area of the Cinnamon. These do tend to blend more in older rabbits but should be very visible in your juniors.
